How to Pray through COVID-19

Many in our church family want to be praying for one another, the city, province, Canada and the world right now. Often times it's hard to know where to start. We invite you to join with us in praying for others.

HEALTHCARE WORKERS
From a nurse in our congregation

  1. Pray for our patients: for their healing, safety, comfort and loneliness.

  2. Pray that we would be bold in our faith as we interact with patients.

  3. Pray for us as we try to be a light to our colleagues.

  4. Pray for our diligence in using our gear, even when it is exhausting and difficult.

GROCERY/ESSENTIAL WORKERS
From an essential worker in our congregation

  1. Pray for the anxiety of people shopping and working in the stores.

  2. Pray for calmness each day.

  3. Pray for safety of the workers.

  4. Pray for the strain on families whose loved ones are working at stores.

  5. Pray for those who deliver food on trucks to continue bringing needed food and supplies on time.

  6. Pray for those who are stocking shelves and who are working crazy hours.

GOVERNMENT

  1. Pray for wisdom as they make decisions that will affect all of us.

  2. Pray for obedience and diligence for us, as citizens and believers, as we submit to the authority God has appointed in our nation. Pray that we would obey the rules and laws set before us out of submission to the Lord and to local authority.

  3. Pray for unity among our leaders and in each level of government including:
    1. Municipal, lead by Ed Holder;
    2. Provincial, lead by Doug Ford;
    3. Federal, lead by Justin Trudeau.

FIRST RESPONDERS AND EMERGENCY SERVICES

  1. Pray for wisdom, energy and strength as they continue to serve the community in this pandemic.

  2. Pray for safety and good health.

  3. Pray for the worries and anxieties of these workers, and of the families they go home to each day.

CHURCH LEADERSHIP

  1. Pray for wisdom and unity as we make decisions and support the congregation.

  2. Pray for diligence, steadfastness and creativity in ministry despite the current circumstances.

  3. Pray for our families as they support us and the work ahead.

FAMILIES WITH LOVED ONES WHO ARE SUFFERING

  1. Pray for the peace of God that passes all understanding for all members of the family.

  2. Pray for opportunity to be united in prayer.

  3. Pray for creative ways to show love, compassion and support in this time.

STUDENTS (ELEMENTARY TO POST-SECONDARY)

  1. Pray for diligence as they have transitioned to online school.

  2. Pray for patience as they adapt to a new way of learning.

  3. Pray for wisdom for their parents, families and friends to support them well during this time.

PARENTS

  1. Pray for wisdom as they continue to lead their households.

  2. Pray for good health and endurance.

  3. Pray for patience as they love their kids and spouses well.

  4. Pray that they would dig deeper into discipling their kids and establish habits that will continue even beyond the pandemic.

ELDERLY PEOPLE

  1. Pray for peace and comfort in times of isolation.

  2. Pray for the ability to connect with community using technology and other creative means.

  2. Pray for opportunity to use this unique situation to draw closer to the Lord.

  3. Pray for good community to surround and support them virtually.

  4. Pray for accountability despite living alone.

INTERNATIONAL WORKERS

  1. Pray for the IWs who have had to return to their home country:

    1. Pray for peace as they adjust to a completely new "normal".
    2. Pray for the ministries they left behind, knowing that it is the Lord's work and that he is still working.
    3. Pray that they would be able to continue to support their teammates.
    4. Pray for local community that will support them well.
  2. Pray for the IWs who have remained abroad:

    1. Pray for comfort as they are far from home and their extended families.
    2. Pray for innovation and creativity to continue to minister in line with new regulations.
    3. Pray against feelings of "failure" as they are not able to continue with their regular routines.
    4. Pray for continued financial support.
    5. Pray for local and global community support.

Thank you again for the prayerlist, it makes such a difference in my prayer time. There is so much to pray for and I would not remember half of what you give us. Thank you again and for the effort to bring it all to us. Blessings and love Jannie

This was a real help for me to pray for different issues, that otherwise I would not see. Thank you.
