Hello West London Alliance.
During these challenging times of isolation, representing the library resources of the church, I would like to offer you some ideas on ways to spend your time and support your family as well as offer encouragement.
We've received information about linking to a free 30-day access to view the Pilgrims Progress movie. We have this DVD in the church library and it is a very high-quality animated movie. If you have children, watch it with your kids, or if you are an adult, I encourage you to view it also. It is really well done and several people have already decided to purchase one for their own home library use.
On the Homeschool blog today, Judy mentioned Adventures in Odyssey. This is another great resource loved by young and old ... not just kids 😉 Connect here: www.whitsend.org and click on the free 30-day subscription. You do not even need to enter credit card information. If you haven't listened before, give it a try! It's a high quality radio drama with engaging Christian storylines. Whether you listen while building Legos, or cooking in the kitchen, it's fun for all age groups.
30 Day Lego Play! I think this is a great idea for a broad range of kids. My boys are 12 and 14 and they are actually enjoying doing these activities. They’ve been sending photos back-and-forth to their cousin and FaceTiming with my co-workers kids to see what they have each made. This could be a great opportunity to connect with others (some of whom may be struggling). You can get the calendar of ideas right here!
We have several Dave Ramsey books in the library that discuss finances from a Biblical perspective. This past Thursday, Dave ran a free Livestream session that may be of interest to many. "Answers to your top questions on money, career and life during this time of uncertainty." This recording offers reassurance and some helpful tips for budgeting and taking care of your family. You can check it out here.
A number of Christian recording artists are reaching out to support their fans and fellow believers worldwide. Our family was able to attend a Zach Williams concert in October this past year. It was an amazing worship experience. On March 13, Zach and his band were ready to leave on their upcoming tour when things were cancelled due to COVID-19. In an effort to bring some light in an otherwise dark and confusing time, they decided to record some songs in an impromptu live session to share, and do their part to bring out hope amidst the craziness in the world. You can check it out here.
Although I can't put books in your hands right now, we will plan on doing some book reviews in the future. As a reminder, Creation Bookstore is accessible online. I know that Amazon is available also, but if you are looking for Christian resources, let's try and support a store that we want to stay around for our future needs. All orders over $50 are shipping for free. You can find them at www.creationbookstore.ca. Their phone number is 519-659-2610, info@CreationBookstore.ca
The WLA library has many great resources and we look forward to giving you and your family ideas and book suggestions in the future. Until then, it's my hope that these tips can be a blessing to you and your family!
