Life Groups at WLA consist of couples and individuals meeting together to learn from Jesus to live like Jesus. While each Life Group is unique, some commonalities between them are fellowship, frequent meetings, prayer, encouragement, and food.

If you are interested in joining a Life Group, please fill out the Life Group Questionnaire.  Before doing so, please read below to find out more information about what Life Groups are all about, and if this next step is something you are ready for.

How do I know if a Life Group is for me?

  1. WLA is your home church: One of the primary methods of discipleship is through Life Groups. As such, we want to invest limited discipleship resources into people who have chosen to attend WLA regularly on a Sunday morning, and who are committed to WLA long-term.
  2. You are committed: Most groups meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Life Groups are meant to be a group of people who walk alongside you, and help you to Connect, Grow, and Go. This happens best when group members are committed to attending as regularly as possible, and are willing to be partakers and contributors in the life of the group.
  3. You have completed WLA 101: In order to best understand what we as a church believe, we highly encourage potential Life Group members to attend a WLA 101 event before joining.

What are Life Groups all about?

CONNECT

Connecting is a value that is often taken for granted due to the common belief that a healthy group is made up of members who are in the same place at the same time; however, connecting is something that requires intentionality, and without that the group is stunted in its growth. Scripture is full of teachings of how we are meant to interact with one another, and a small group is one of the best environments to model Christ to fellow brothers and sisters in the church. The connections that are created can forge into a powerful Spirit-led pursuit of sharing the Gospel with our friends and family.

Acts 2:42-47
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

GROW

We can, at any age be humbled, strengthened, and encouraged to grow in faithfulness towards God.  Growing together is accomplished in a multitude of ways including studying God's word together, praying together, and encouraging one another. Using a variety of study materials, groups are encouraged to find a challenging study for the season that their Life Group is in.

Colossians 2:6-7
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

GO

Going together locally and or globally keeps the group focused on the Great Commission. Groups are encouraged to find ways to share their faith personally by serving with either one of our local mission partners or by another specific need that the group had identified. By learning to serve locally, our desire would be to see groups consider overseas missions. While ultimately, we want to impact the City of London, we also want to reach the world for Christ. Life Groups are encouraged to pray through the opportunity of going together locally and globally as they seek to serve Christ. The overseas component is not for every group; however, praying for the overseas missions and serving locally is.

Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
