West London Alliance Church

WLA in the Community

How are we involved in the London community?

We have a number of local missions focused on meeting needs in the community:

We have a community garden for our neighbours in the community.

We lead a conversational English ESL program for women in the community on Friday mornings.

For the seniors in the community we have weekly drop-ins and exercise classes, including Bible studies and worship services.

We contribute resources (WLA Cares funds and our donation bin) to the Northwest London Resource Center, who run a food cupboard for families in need in our community.

We have a work team that helps out with projects in the community including building, fixing, moving, and helping those in need.

We have a Community Impact Team that goes downtown weekly to serve the "least of these" (Matthew 25:40).

If you are interested in finding out more, contact Graham Buchanan (Pastor of Community Life).

If you live in the Sherwood Mall region, consider partnering with NWL Connect. This long-term joint initiative between 3 churches, run on Monday nights, includes meals, social nights, Bible studies and 1-on-1 opportunities to share the gospel.

This is a great opportunity to get to know our neighbours living in the surrounding apartment buildings and to share the love of Jesus with them. You can garden alongside them or to participate in various events throughout the gardening season (March-October).

ESL

Our ESL program runs on Friday mornings and Friday evenings. This is a great opportunity to help newcomers in our community practically with their English skills and to share the gospel with them in small group or Bible study settings.

If you would like to express spiritual gifts by building, fixing, moving, or helping someone in need, this is the team for you.

WLA Cares is the umbrella under which church-wide events occur. This includes garage sales, food drives, Christmas initiatives, clean & greens, etc. This leadership team will coordinate different church-wide endeavours and enable other members of the church to participate.

The Community Impact Team is a team designed to care for the least of these in our community [Matthew 25]. The team is broken into a variety of ministry opportunities and contexts that participants can serve within.

Forevergreen is a seniors ministry that meets throughout the week.  Meetings include drop-ins, exercise class, field trips, Bible studies, meals, and a hymn service called The Gathering.
